James “Boogaloo” Bolden, born in Houston, Texas in 1950, discovered his love for the trumpet at age twelve under the guidance of Mr. Edmund Broussard. He went on to study Music Education at Texas Southern University, performing with the Ocean of Soul Marching Band, TSU Jazz Band, and TSU A Capella Choir.
